FEC has been an active organization in the UC Berkeley community since 2013, striving to nurture students of strong character that are ready to undertake the challenges of the professional world.
The purpose of the FEC is to provide education in personal finance and establish an environment for members to develop an early experience in entrepreneurship through a series of business and social projects. FEC aims to help its members develop several necessary skills required in the business field and in daily life including problem solving skills, time management, leadership, networking, organization, teamwork, communication, and analytical skills. FEC will have advisors who can provide personal experience and advice to members to help them further develop their understanding of finance and entrepreneurship in the real world.
As a member of FEC, you will have the opportunity to participate in one of two unique programs each semester.
The Financial Analysis program offered by FEC combines a theoretical curriculum with practical finance knowledge. Topics include market news, financial statement analysis, and equity research. Using our own investment portfolio, this program requires our members to research financial markets and invest club funds into stocks. Performance is continuously monitored throughout the course of the semester.
Learn what it takes to be an entrepreneur, develop a startup as a part of a small team, and pitch your idea to venture capitalists to secure funding. The Business Projects component of FEC will provide entrepreneurial development; a process that can be broken down into teaching the necessary frameworks, developing an entrepreneurial mindset, and fostering a collaborative environment.
